We Made It

  • Nov. 30th, 2009 at 10:10 AM

Thanksgiving was a success. Stella rode in her new spot just fine, Maggie cried some but not all the way to Grandma's house. Turkey was eaten, pies were devoured, pounds were added to my body :)

We learned to buy a bigger turkey, there were not enough leftovers.

We learned to make TWO PECAN PIES, otherwise the guys will eat all the pie while the ladies go out shopping on Black Friday.

All in all it was a very good holiday.

Laws of Mommyhood

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 12:10 PM

As my toddler gets more and more defiant and the little baby gets more and more demanding the less and less I can do stuff like laundry, dishes and general picking up... oh well... My house was never a picture of 1950's living anyways :)

Do you know what Kate did last night... she had "water" fight with a juice box at dinner last night.  Thank goodness it was one sided and her brother did not join in the fun.   Even better I had not picked up the towel from her shower with Daddy that morning so very little clean up it all was caught up by the towel.   Win!

No more juice boxes for her!  Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me!

halloween

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Our pictures were not great... so here is one of the best ones.  Libby is a gypsy, Ben is a navy seal, Kate went as a robot and added fairy wings to complete her look, Maggie is a little pink leopard.  The storm trooper is Andrew our next door neighbor.

Jim took the kids out to trick or treat and I stayed in with Grandma and Maggie.  All Maggie wanted to do for the ENTIRE evening is nurse, go figure :)   And I am continuing to make Maggie's baby acne really bad by eating her weight in chocolate!

That bag of chips, I finished it off for breakfast :)  I got to get off the junk food train!  But I lost another pound with all my crappy eating so I really have no incentive!

:)

Crown is OVER!!

  • Nov. 1st, 2009 at 3:49 PM

Woot!! Crown is over and now I have nothing to do :)  And I am happy with that!  Well I have somethings to do to get a git basket for Brenwen an Konrad... but that is not for a few weekends.   And it is mostly done and it is defiantly easier to make an apron than bread for dayboard and feast...

I got home at 5:45 just in time to get the kids ready for trick or treats and then it was time to feed the baby for a few hours.

And I do have to say... geezee.. changing the time sucks...

Sigh

  • Oct. 28th, 2009 at 12:17 PM

I was determined to not go out today.  The weather is going to be yucky (cold rain) and I don't like to take Maggie out in the yuck.

But here is the rub.... We are out of dish soap,  their is only 1/2 a carton of milk and there are two baby wipes left.   Yes two single baby wipes.   Yep the big box on the floor is empty when I thought it was full.  Oops...

Looks like we are going out today after all, and soon... Yuck....  The heavy rain will be later in the afternoon so I'd better get going... I would really rather take a nap! Maggie was very happy and alert... from 4 am to 6 am...  need more sleep!

My super power!

  • Oct. 22nd, 2009 at 12:22 PM

Maggie is 2 weeks old and already 4 oz above her birth weight. Whoo hoo! I win. :) Since she came home at 6 pounds 13 oz... she has gained the necessary oz a day.

Yep... breast feeding is my superpower... I swear I could feed a village :)

The nurse-practitioner at Maggie's appointment today asked "your not holding her all the time right" And I just said "nope not at all" lying through my teeth!!! Of course I'm holding this baby day and night!!! She is giving me my last little newborn goodness and dammit I worked hard for it too. You think I'm putting her down for a minute? Lady you are crazy! I am going to enjoy every second of my sleepy newborn milk drunk cuddles!.

....and because baby goodness was requested... here is 7 pounds 11.5 oz of cuteness. She is starting to fill out a bit, her skinny bird legs are getting a whee little bit of chub! She's also got a good baby belly started with matching chipmunk cheeks.

..sigh one of these days I'll get an LJ cut to work... but not today... sorry for the length...

Cold from hell

  • Oct. 20th, 2009 at 2:51 PM

So My Man came down with a cold the day that I delivered our little Maggie.  He gave it to me some where around day 4 or 5 and now it is been a week and I want it gone!! no end in site though :(  And my hopes of Maggie escaping the cold are quickly being dashed.  She is a little sniffly and threw up some mucus this morning.  I really hope it does not get worse for her.  That reminds me I need My Man to stop and get a nose sucker, I forgot to take the one from the hospital.  Unfortunately it looks like I'll need one sooner than later :(

In other news... I am making my way through eating a whole bag of Halloween candy all by myself.  Not the best idea I've ever had, but dam it tastes so good :)  It is a bag of mini mounds candy bars... and I know not another soul in this house would eat one even if given money... they think they are icky... oh no... they are yummy!

sigh... off to watch for the school bus and have a cup of coffee (decaff for another year).  Maybe some more mini candy bars, chocolate and coffee go great together!  They are so fresh and luscious and irresistible!!!!!

Whinny pregnant lady is gone...

  • Oct. 11th, 2009 at 6:25 PM

Whinny crabby stressed out gestational diabetic pregnant lady is gone... replaced with a slightly fat mommy who can eat WHAT EVER THE F* I WANT ANY TIME I WANT. WHOO HOO!...

oh... and here is our latest and LAST! AND FINAL! addition to our family... we well we will be adding new fish, reptiles, puppies and kittens but this is the last human that will be added to our posse :)  (She looks JUST like her brother)

Margaret Emma Claire Fox arrived on October 8th at 5:38 weighing in at a slight 7 pounds 7 oz and 20 inches long. We are all home and doing well. Milk is in and engorgement has descended upon us. I now spend my days foraging in the fridge eating as many chocolate bars as I feel need for and staring at my little Maggie begging her to eat as much as possible so my boobs will not explode :)

What I hate about the SCA

  • May. 13th, 2009 at 10:22 AM

Do you wanna know what I hate about the SCA... The awards...

I hate the sheep mentality and desire to stamp someones card just because the person does not have the award and they are someones friend.  I hate it even more when the person is not actually qualified for the award.

I hate the way people actually think these things have meaning.  They do not, awards in the SCA are arbitrary at best.  Just because someone does not have that cookie does not mean they are not deserving.  The worst is someone who does have that special cookie and are totally un-deserving.

What Herb Are You?

  • Apr. 7th, 2009 at 1:07 PM

You Are Cinnamon
You are intelligent and complex. You are both mild mannered and intense.
You are passionate to the point of being overpowering. People can't ignore your presence.

You are always questioning and learning in your life. You're on a bit of a spiritual journey.
You are drawn toward power and success. You are never quite satisfied with your achievements.

Funny :)

I don't like country music, but I don't denigrate those who do. And for the people who do like country music, denigrate means "put down."

Bahh!

Well I laughed..

What Tropical Fruit Are You?

  • Mar. 25th, 2009 at 9:52 PM

You Are a Papaya
You are a calm, balanced, and mild mannered person.
While you're peaceful and together, you're also quite complex.

You are authentic and honest. There are some very distinct elements to your personality.
You are exotic and original, but you don't flaunt it. You allow others to discover your subtle complexities.

Boring! So Boring!

What have I been up to?

I did get to the mall to exchange my necklace, and this is what I got.
www.kay.com/images/products/3603/360385304_MV_LG.jpg

And a found a few new cardigan sweaters for Libby, she seems to have longer arms now than she did last fall :)  How'd that happen?  Ben is looking all gangly arms and legs too.  I already had to get him some new pants.  It was a good mall trip, Kate behaved herself.  I rented one of those car strollers they have and she liked it enough to stay seated for our trip.  That was a miricle.

The second part of our trip, to Target was not as good, sitting time was all done! She either screamed while I had her belted in or she stood in the cart and hung on my neck.  It was great! Not so much.  But I was victorious in finding shoelaces, diapers and wipes.

Today is a snow day, and time for Kates nap.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing

  • Feb. 26th, 2009 at 8:52 PM

Chinese food for dinner... Check.
Oh my was it soo good!  I ate more than I should have, but I did not care.

Birthday presents opened... Check.
The girls are fighting over MY new stuffy doggie.
My Man actually got me jewelry... wow... I need to exchange it 'cause it is just a weird piece... but wow, he got me jewelry.  One section of the necklace has a brown pearl that I really like, but then there are some little diamond thingies and a smoky quarts added to the end that is just out of place.  But wow, he did this with no prompting or anything. wow... lots of points for him!   He said I could exchange it, and thanked me for trying to like it :)

Two pieces of B-day cake eaten... Check...
He got a cake with a cherry filling and I told him that is not going to fly with the kids so I stopped and got an extra cake.  Of course I had to eat some of both!

Tummy ache... Check!
Hopefully it will settle down soon... but it was so worth it!

have a good night folks!

Happy Birthday to me

  • Feb. 26th, 2009 at 10:15 AM

So for my birthday I am going to eat what ever I want, candy bar for breakfast anyone!

My sweet Libby ( who can also be the devil) made me a card, Ben sang me happy birthday, my man got me a D&D latte, yum!  and then...

The kids shut Kate's finger in the bedroom door.  They did not want her to mess up their Thomas Trains so they threw her out and shut the door.  Unfortunately the tip of her finger was securely caught in the hinge.  Not good.  I herd the squeak and then the silence leading up to the huge scream, I knew it was not going to be good.  Her poor finger is purple on the tip and had a deep crease just at the base of the nail.  We will have to watch her fingernail for signs of swelling.  Oh the things that siblings do to each other.

Right now she is holding her hand to her chest and not using it at all.  This does not look too good.  Just gotta keep and eye on it.

Today I will go shopping to get me something that I want, dunno what yet, but something.  :)

Wii

  • Feb. 20th, 2009 at 7:51 PM

So... our tax return came in.  We paid off our cash reserve and put a big sum into savings.  With the remaining money we got a Wii and a few games, plus I think My Man is eyeing either another squeeze box or a flat screen monitor for down stairs ( his monitor is so blurry I can't read the paper down there, it is baaadddd)

There that is our money all spent in less than 24 hours of it showing up in our account.  Well, we planned on getting these things for about 6 months before we even filled out our taxes.  So we aren't that bad, and a lot went to savings.

Can I just say Turbo-tax... it is the bomb.   I was so resistant at first, but now I am a sell out.  It takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to do our taxes (we have capital gains and itemized deductions) and it is worth the $40 for the electronic filling.   This is the second year I've used Turbo Tax and I love the import data feature, no more missed SSN#'s on our forms or messed up Mutual fund account numbers!  One year I left off all the kids SSN's, and of course, our dependant claims were rejected.  So we had to wait another 6 weeks to fix everything.  And then there was the year I messed up the routing number for direct deposit.  Sigh it is the little things that get you.
